Armed with a funky drum loop from Taylor Gordon aka The Pocket Queen, some flute parts from an old recording and a rainy day here’s what I came up with….
I found The Pocket Queen on Instagram. The flute was from an old recording I did with Tim Bragg. The mixing, arranging, and guitars parts were by yours truly. I hope you like it.
The first half of the session will be investigations and interpretations of the funk genre with the ‘MIF’ band. The second half will be for guests to join them.

I got an invite from a local French music label to submit a track for an album. The album will be call Museum. Each invited musician must use something from history as an inspiration for their composition. I decided to use the iconic Citroën SM!

A funk number inspired by one of the most iconic cars from the 70s. The Citroën SM! …a high-performance coupé produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1970 to 1975. Citroën purchased Maserati in 1968 with the intention of harnessing Maserati’s high-performance engine technology to produce a true Gran Turismo car, combining the sophisticated Citroën suspension with a Maserati V6. The result was the incredible Citroën SM.
The bass player in the funk band that I play with found this rhythmic displacement line on a youtube channel called ‘studio jams’. He’s been driving us mad with it ever since. Thing is, when the guys on YT play it they speed up slightly, making it very hard to get just right. I decided to see if I could put it together ‘straight’. Here’s the result…..
